Engaging

by Heather on July 29, 2010

Last night our friend Josh proposed to his girlfriend Ashley (who, by the way, is also a good friend)!  Nate and I have been in on it for the past couple of weeks since Josh (who is also a photographer) asked us to take pictures.  So, being the inherently sneaky people we are (I wore a camouflage hat – clearly I’m a professional) we said yes!  Nate climbed up on the roof, and I hid in the windows of the Museum of Contemporary Art acress the street.

Here are some of the combined photos from Nate and myself from their engagement in Denver!

Congratulations Josh + Ashley!  We can’t wait for the wedding! :)

If you’ve been engaged, how were you proposed to?  Or, if you haven’t been engaged, what’s the best proposal story you’ve heard? Nate proposed in Plano, Texas on New Year’s Eve by a 40-foot Christmas tree.  He told me that we were going to take a picture by it using a self-timer on the camera, so he set the camera up, ran over, got down on one knee…and proposed!  It was so special, and I’m so thankful that we have that photo to remember it by :)

They pictures turned out incredible! I didn’t know that the engagement was actually going to happen DURING the shoot! That is too cool. They are fabulous!

My husband proposed to me when I was being a major biotch. It makes for a funny story now.

Aww that is so sweet!! Great photos! I do wish I had photos of our proposal, but I wouldn’t change a thing about the way it happened. It was in the Duke Gardens in NC and just awesome :)

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Here’s my cute story: When I was in college I had a job as a tour guide, and during Open Houses we had to wear these t-shirts that said “Ask Me” on the back, since we were supposedly the experts on the school. Well, that just happened to be the t-shirt I randomly decided to wear on the day Dave proposed – how fitting! :)

Aww both of those engagement stories are sooo freaking cute!!

My (now) husband proposed to me after an amazing meal with his family. We went to check out the herb garden in the back of the restaurant when he did it there. Sooo cute. Once we told his family about it, we all got to jump in excitement together ! It was perfect.

Stop, I’m crying over here. This is beautiful. That is too amazing. Congrats.

We got engaged in a park, complete with store-bought fireworks at the end to celebrate.

Aww! Congrats to them. And I love that they now have pictures to remember that moment.

Peter proposed to me by having his brother set up our living room with my favorite meal (fruit and a chicken salad sandwich bec I’m high class like that LOL) while we were out hiking. I came inside and screamed our house was on fire bec I smelled smoke. Nope. Just the candles. Then he gave me a letter to read and when I looked up he was down on one knee. It was really sweet. Even if we were dining in the living room surrounded by no remodeling mess. Haha. It describes us perfectly though.

Great photos & perfect couple- loves this one! Jonas proposed to me at the Louboutin boutique in Paris. Hid the ring in a shoe box & had the owners close the shop & bring champagne. It was an effervescent day, for sure!

So so so cute! Brandon proposed to me in Hawaii last year. We were watching the sunset and I was distracted by a crab that was crawling towards me, I grabbed the camera and began shooting. Little did I know he was on his knee the whole time behind me for about 5 minutes!

We had only known each other 6 weeks when hubby proposed.
It was on his birthday, which was also the day he got baptized :) Big day!
Ten weeks after that we were married. That was 9 years ago, and we’re still going strong :)

What cute pics! Congrats to your friends!

J proposed to me while we were having a picnic that he prepared (Potbelly’s sandwiches, yum) — he gave me a rose and started saying all these wonderful mushy things and then got down on one knee. I cried and cried. It was so special!

My husband proposed at the top of Castle Peak (in CA…I think it’s one of the tallest peaks in CA). It was in the middle of a 1 week backpacking trip.

Those photos look amazing. Congratulations to your friends!

My husband proposed to be in a garden with a huge fountain in Williamsburg VA. It was freezing cold and he got down on one knee. I burst into tears even though we had been ring shopping for weeks.

Love this post. I’m such a sucker for engagement stories. Jason proposed to me on a hike that we did on our first day, exactly 3 years after we went on the original hike. It was all very romantic. And being me, I had no clue it was coming – even though the date and location should have given me some hints :)

What incredible documentation to have. If I ever get proposed to, I hope he is smart enough to have photographer friends in camo around.

Those pictures are gorgeous.

My bf and I aren’t engaged, but for valentines day last year, he hired a violinist to serenade me with K-C and JoJo’s All My Life (we have a mutual love for cheesy R&B).

When we first started dating we didn’t have any pic so he a photographer to follow us around NYC. Those photos are still are favorite. They are so in the moment, I love them. I will post some to MCH soon.

I love it – how incredibly special! My husband “proposed” while sitting on the couch after a long night at the restaurant (he used to cook). He just said, “hey, since we have that vacation coming up, do you want to go ahead and get married and use that as the honeymoon.” Me, “sure, why not.”

What great pics! They look like soul mates and so happy. :)

My story: my husband said he had a gift for me and I had to find it. We played “hot”/”cold” game until I found the surprise (ring) in my purse on the counter! He then asked me if I would make him the luckiest guy in the world by marrying him…I said yes of course!

Beautiful pictures! :)

We were laying on his bed talking, and he was telling me all these sweet things about how beautiful I was, how much he loved me, ect. I said, “Aww..you’re going to make me cry!” and he replied, “If I wanted to make you cry I would ask you to marry me.”

I was looking down at the time and I laughed and said “Yeah, right!” (we had only been together like a month! turns out he had ordered the ring when we had been together like 2 weeks!) and I looked up and he was holding a ring. He asked and I said yes, obviously :) Almost 5 years later and haven’t regretted it once!

Those are beautiful engagement pics!!

My husband TOTALLY surprised me when he proposed– he came up with this elaborate “work trip” to New York (at Christmas time) that I got to tag along to… then all of the sudden he was down on one knee at Wollman Rink in Central Park! It was probably the best day EVER. :D

I love the pictures! How sweet. Okay, I’m going to be biased and say that I think that my proposal is one of the best that I’ve heard..err experienced lol. My husband and I met in high school by our lockers that were almost side by side. Well he went away to college that was 2 hours away and I stayed back with my dance school. One tuesday night, I get a call from our old high school principal saying that she wanted me to meet her at the school to sign some papers about starting a school dance team. So expecting her call, I head up to the school around 6p.m. and when I get there she tells me that we have to go around to another entrance to get to her office. She opens the door and I walk in and there’s hundreds of candles lit on the floor lining the hallway. Then a Coldplay song “The Scientist” starts playing and I see my boyfriend walking towards me, then I realize, this is the same hallway where our lockers were and where we met! He then proposed. It was amazing!
