No Dancing Here

by Heather on January 31, 2010

Morning everyone!  Bunker + Keira say, “Whatup?!?!”

Yesterday was a good Saturday…a little hectic, but still good.  I was planning on going on a hike with my friends Stefanie + Stephanie, but I decided we could use some extra $$$ so I went and worked at my company’s booth at SIA again. Beforehand I cleaned, picked up poop in the backyard (blech!!), did laundry, and worked out (I did a full-body circuit training workout that I recorded off of Fit TV).  Afterwards I sat down to figure out what to do about lunch, and all I could think about was mac ‘n’ cheese!  Soooo, I figured I might as well go for it so I didn’t eat everything else in sight because all I really wanted was this:

It’s a super easy recipe…I had to use spaghetti because it was the only noodle of any kind that we had!  Still tasted yummy to me :)   Here’s the recipe:

Easy + Not Healthy Mac ‘N’ Cheese

  • 4 oz whole wheat noodles
  • 1 cup cubed Velveeta
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 3/4-1 cup milk (I used nonfat)
  • 1 tsp ground dry mustard
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Preheat broiler on oven if topping with shredded cheese.  Cook the noodles according to package directions, drain.  I took mine out a little before completely done since I was going to broil with cheese in the oven.  In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour.  Stir constantly to create a roux for about 1 minute.  Whisk in milk and, stirring constantly, let thicken for about 1 minute.  Stir in velveeta.  Stirring constantly, let it melt thoroughly.  Add seasonings, stir.  Add drained pasta and coat thoroughly with cheese sauce.  If you’re wanting broiled cheese, pour into an oven-safe pan, top with shredded cheese, and broil for about 1-2 minutes, or until cheese on top is bubbly and brown.  DEVOUR.

I had about a cup of this, and put the rest away so I wouldn’t eat it all.  Because I totally would.  Don’t test me!

When Nate got home from skiing, he hopped in the shower and we headed downtown to the convention center.  On the way I finally got around to eating my Kind bar that I bought on Thursday!

It was yummy, and I was pleasantly surprised that it had macadamia nuts in it!  SOOOOOO good, I love those things!

After the show was over for the day, we walked across the street to Rock Bottom for dinner.  We all split some edamame:

And huge pretzels with cheese sauce (mmmmm…more Velveeta!!!):

I decided as soon as we got there on the Turkey Chimichurri Burger with fruit on the side instead of fries:

This was really good!  The turkey burger was perfectly done, and the pickle de gallo on top was a cool addition!  I didn’t see any chimichurri sauce on it though, til the middle.  That was the only disappointing part.

Nate got a steak with parmesan fries and squash:

His was pretty good…the fries were great (obvi, they’re FRIED), the veggies were good, but the steak (albeit perfectly cooked for my taste) didn’t really have a lot of flavor.  Maybe it was just my bite, but all I tasted was char.  He liked it though, and that’s what really matters!

We got home and crashed like the old people we are!  We were watching the X-Games on ESPN, and the next thing I know Nate’s waking me up and telling me to go to bed.  Oops!

Breakfast this morning was another breakfast cookie (recipe in the recipes section!!!) on a little tiny plate because I was trying to be fancy and use a different kind of plate:

‘Twas a little small…but still tasted delish!  This was my last packet of Chocolate Amazing Grass.  Probably a good thing because I need to do some sort of breakfast variety or else you guys will quit reading!  Can’t have that :)

In regards to the title of this post, yesterday we walked around the convention center to check out other booths.  There was rumor that Skullcandy was giving out free headphones!  Nate and Jonathan and I walked over to check it out, but I immediately felt completely uncomfortable because there were scantily clad ladies standing around dancing (they worked for the booth) and apparently the only way to get free headphones was to dance for them.  Couple things here:  1) I’m not much of a dancer, 2) I don’t really care if I get free headphones, and 3) most importantly, I really detest how women are exploited in the whole “Sex Sells” advertising theme in America.  I’m not some performing monkey who’ll perform for free stuff; I think I’m better than that!  I took some stickers and walked away awkwardly.

How do you guys feel about this?  Would you have brushed it off and danced for the headphones?  How do you feel about trade shows (and other entities) hiring beautiful women to wear next to nothing to come into their booth? I’ve gotta say, I was really proud of my company at this point because we had fit models, but they were all wearing ski pants and jackets and were completely clothed, and I thought they were the prettiest ones there!

Lucky Strike

by Heather on January 30, 2010

Morning everyone!  I’m so baffled by the fact that the South and Texas is getting all the cold weather!  I’ve heard from several sources that there’s been rain, sleet, and snow!  Well, guys, it’s sunny and 50-something here in Colorado.  Go figure :)

Last night was so much fun!  First, we went over to Austin + Ashley’s house in Littleton, and our other friends Landon + Sara were in town too!  It was so much fun…these guys and gals are seriously some of the funniest and sweetest people I’ve ever known.  Austin + Ashley are fantastic hosts, and they had a fabulous dinner prepared for us!  We started off with spinach dip in a bread bowl (drool):And then we had salads with strawberries, toasted walnuts, fresh goat cheese, and balsamic (double drool):

And then, as if there could be more great food, we had these amazing calzones with whole wheat crust!  There were 3:  Italian sausage, spinach + goat cheese, and spinach + mozzarella:

I had a piece of each one, and totally wanted to go back for more, but somehow I was able to stop myself.  I don’t know how it happened, but I was so thankful I did because we ended our fabulous meal with these unbelievable red velvet cupcakes in honor or Sara and Nate’s birthdays!

Aren’t they cute?  I told them it looked like they had animated our desserts!  Ashley works as a store designer for Anthropologie, so their whole apartment is super cute and creative, and their cooking is always amazing.  I’m really going to miss them when they move to Dallas, but I think we’re going to try and do a snowshoeing trip sometime before they leave!

We had to leave earlier than we wanted because Nate’s car was still at the convention center for SIA and the time had expired.  We were pretty lucky he didn’t get a ticket!  While we were there, we got a call saying everyone who worked the booth at SIA were at Lucky Strike in Denver, which was just around the corner from where we were.  Since our company was paying, we stopped by and got a couple beers.  I’m glad we did because we got to meet one of our co-worker’s girlfriends, who is just about the cutest thing ever.  We had a great time talking and watching slightly inebriated people bowl and dance!  Before I knew it, it was almost 12, so we headed home since Nate was planning on getting up early to go skiing at Eldora today.

Sleep was great, and I had yet another breakfast cookie and a massive cup of water this morning while watching FoodNetwork.  What a great way to wake up!

I was hoping to be able to hit up the Farmer’s Market Ashley was raving about in this post, but it turns out we’re working SIA again this afternoon, and I have a ton of stuff to get done around the house (i.e. de-pooping the backyard!!!) before we go down there.  I’m hoping I’ll be able to go soon!  We don’t get down to Denver nearly as often as we’d like, but a sweet year-round Farmer’s Market might be just the thing to get us down there!

How’s the weather where you’re at today?  How has that affected your weekend plans?

Hope y’all have a rockin’ Saturday :)

Workin' for the Weekend

by Heather on January 29, 2010

Hey guys!  I am so excited it’s almost the weekend!  It’s been a long, slow day for us here in the office!  The finance department rocked my face off and got us all pizza!  I took a slice of veggie with spinach, mushrooms, olives, and tomatoes.  I wanted to make sure to save a little room for some of the food I brought for lunch!

Which was leftovers from last night:

I had the rice, some guac, a small piece of chicken, the veggies, and some salsa.  It was pretty good, but I only ate about half of this concoction.  I just wasn’t feeling the flavors of Mexican food for some reason!

Thanks so much for all of your feedback on the tattoo/piercing situation!  It’s definitely NOT something I’m going to jump into quickly, but it’s always nice to have different views to consider when you make a decision like this!

Tonight we’re headed to see our friends Austin, Ashley, Landon, and Sarah in Littleton.  We haven’t been out to see them nearly enough, but I’m so stoked to go have fun tonight!  I’m planning on doing a little workout before I leave the house to go pick Nate up at the Convention Center, and then just hanging out with great friends all night.  Should be great!  And tomorrow has potential for a hike…I might just go and get filthy muddy anyway since I miss it so much :)

What are y’alls plans for the weekend?  Any sweet workouts planned?  Or great meals to look forward to?  Can’t wait to post about dinner tonight!

An Unimportant Decision

by Heather on January 29, 2010

Morning y’all!  Let’s start off with a photo of the Friday treats I made for my office.  BEHOLD: dark/white chocolate chip cookie bars with store-bought chocolate chip icing!

Nate was upset he wasn’t going to be in the office today since it’s his day at SIA, so he took a massive chunk out first thing.  You know, just in case he starves to death later :)   I used an online recipe (sorry, I can’t remember which one!!!) to make these bars from a cake mix, and used store-bought icing.  I truly truly wanted to use Jessica’s recipe for Chocolate Chewies, but alas I was lazy/wanted to cuddle with Nate on the couch, so I threw these together instead!  I’m hoping to make the cookies tomorrow to take to church on Sunday :)

Breakfast was another chocolate 3-minute breakfast cookie.  These are seriously great…I thought I was getting tired of them, but I’m not!  This morning’s was no exception either:

I’m back in the office today, which is cool but not super fun.  I didn’t think I’d really enjoy SIA yesterday (I can be sort of anti-social sometimes), but I had a great time and wouldn’t mind going back.  It was a great experience!

Now, on to my extremely unimportant (potential) decision that I need some input on.  I have my nose pierced, as shown below in this super-nerdy picture:

And I really like it.  However, I’ve also wanted a tattoo for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, and I finally decided after seeing photos of Meghann’s snowflake or Jenna’s cool-looking one that I really like the foot tattoo.  It seems ideal because it’s there if you want to show it, and if you don’t then you can cover it up.  I’m not sure what I would get just yet, but I was wondering:  should I ditch the nose stud and get a foot tattoo instead?  What are your thoughts on tattoos? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday, and I can’t wait to read what y’all are all up to!  I missed seeing everyone’s blogs yesterday :)

Tired Feet

by Heather on January 28, 2010

Hey guys!  I finally made it back!  This was a LONG day on my feet, and I’m not used to that anymore!  My feet are ready for some TLC, that’s for sure!

This morning I did another 3-minute cookie, but used the Amazing Grass instead of cocoa powder.  I thought I might go ahead and share the recipe for this on my blog, but I just want to make sure everyone knows the original recipe is from Tina!  She’s the one who came up with the original, and I just adjusted it for my own personal tastes!

Below are the ingredients I’ve been using in mine:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/8 cup egg whites
  • 1 packet Truvia
  • 1 packet Chocolate Amazing Grass
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1-2 Tbsp chocolate chips (these are 60% cocao)

Mix them all together in a bowl:

And microwave on high for 1 minute.  When I take mine out, I run the edge of a spoon or a knife around the edge, then invert onto a plate as shown:

The cookie should fall right out, and look something like this:

I would just recommend everyone at least pour water into the bowl immediately for easy cleanup!  Such a super simple and delicious breakfast; it keeps me full for hours!

On the way to the convention center I stopped at Starbucks for a cup of coffee:

And I got a cranberry almond Kind bar (potential snackage)

And some dehydrated apples.  SO GOOD!  I actually really enjoy apple chips more, but these were perfectly tart-sweet.  Mmmmmm :)

The snowsports show was a lot of fun…didn’t hurt that my company’s booth was the biggest, coolest one there!  I got to help some of my sales reps show the line and learn a lot more about the product for 2010…score!  I’m stoked about some of the really cute women’s stuff coming out as early as this summer :)

Now, the sad thing is that the only place I could get anything with veggies was the pizza place on the supreme pizza…how messed up is that?  I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love me some greasy pizza, but after the past couple of days all I really wanted was something good and healthy.  I didn’t even think about eating the snacks I got at Starbucks (I know, I know…in my defense it had been about 6 hours since I’d gotten them and they were stuffed in a closet in my bag), so I got the pizza and ate it knowing tonight needed to be much healthier!

I left at 4:30 and high-tailed it to the store for dinner.  We decided to make fajita salad, so of course I needed an onion and a pepper!

Here’s a little somethin’ somethin’ about me:  I hate, detest, abhor green bell peppers.  Gross.  So I always get the red/orange/yellow ones instead.  I find they’re so much sweeter and flavorful (and not as earthy tasting) than the green ones.  For fail-proof fajita veggies, do this:

Cut the veggies in strips, put in a saucepan, and add 1-2 cups of water.  Turn heat to medium high, and boil veggies until there is no more water.  Add 1 Tbsp canola oil, and saute until color starts to develop on the veggies.  The water tenderizes them, and the oil adds the color without burning them!  Sooooooooo good, and so easy!

The chicken is tossed in chicken chili seasoning (you can get those pre-mixed spice packets at just about any grocery store) and sauteed it in a non-stick pan with a little water to get the spice mix evenly distributed.  The salsa and guacamole are both from Eat Wholly, and the rice is instant rice with a can of black beans, a cup of corn, and some diced red onion.  Basically I mixed it all together and shoved it in my mouth.

And then dessert was the rest of our Haagen Dazs 5 Vanilla Bean ice cream (about 1/4 cup each) with a sprinkle of chocolate chips on top:

This was such a crazy long and busy day!  I didn’t realize I would enjoy myself as much as I did, but my feet are dead and all I want to do is crash on the couch with my sweet husband and watch 30 Rock!  I might do a workout later tonight, but I think it might be better for me to have taken the day off and do a kick-ass workout on Saturday instead :)

Has anyone tried the 3-minute cookie yet?  What special mix-ins do you use?  Or, if you haven’t tried it, what would you add to yours? I’m loving the chocolate chips, and I think at some point I would like to try dried crack strawberries to them…easy, watery mouth!!!!

Snow Shizzle

by Heather on January 28, 2010

Morning everyone!  This is gonna be a short one since it snowed last night and I’m driving my Corolla into Denver for the SIA Snowsports Show (I told Nate to take the Jeep, it’s totally my fault).  This is NOT the picture I wanted to post, but I haven’t eaten breakfast and didn’t really have anything else on the camera that I didn’t post last night already :)

This is me skiing last year, testing a $1200 jacket!!!

In other quick news, I did do that workout last night, it kicked my tail, and I immediately felt better about myself afterwards!  Note to self:  workout when you are mad about food choices (not as punishment).  I immediately was happier and much more pleasant afterwards!

I hope y’all have a wonderful day today!  I’ll be back this evening with all the eats for the day – hopefully I’ll be able to do lunch at a cool place in Denver!  :)

What’s your favorite lunch in the whole wide world? I’d do pizza anyday, but wouldn’t mind a huge salad or awesome sandwich either :)

Killer Tofu

by Heather on January 27, 2010

Anyone remember this song from that Nickelodeon show, Doug?  I may or may not have been hopping around the office to it a few minutes ago…

I’ve got to admit, I didn’t do very well with the self control again today until this evening.  NOT OK.  I don’t want to deprive myself, but for some reason if I’m stressed, tired, and cranky there’s just no holding me back from food I don’t need to eat.  It all started innocently enough with some bean soup (white beans, carrots, celery, onion, red bell pepper) and a handful of baby carrots and a Tbsp of almond butter:

But the afternoon started going slower and slower, and my boredom went up and up until I caved and had a 100-calorie popcorn with pepper:

There was a storm blowing in, and it was getting significantly colder.  I didn’t bring adequate clothing to take my walk in the weather, so I ended up going to Marshall’s (got a shower curtain rod – the curvy kind!) and hitting up Whole Foods for some dinner inspiration.  Now, here’s where the “killer tofu” part comes in:

I was a little hungry (stomach was growling), so I decided to try the Vegan Greek Pizza (artichokes, olives, mushrooms…) at the WF pizza counter.  I go, check out, and go sit in my car to people watch since the cafe tables were all full.  I sat there and ate my sliver of the pizza…and realized the “cheese” was not very melty and it was cold!!!  I kept eating anyway, not really enjoying it, til it dawned on me:  I got the VEGAN Greek pizza, which meant no real cheese!  I looked down and realized that I was in the middle of chewing a massive chunk of tofu, and that was the part I wasn’t enjoying!  That darn tofu snuck up on me and forced me to eat it!!!

OK, OK, so maybe the tofu wasn’t killer, but I used to watch Doug all the time and that made me think of it.  I think I might be scarred from this tofu experience and will likely not feel like trying it for a while.  Just a prediction.

So, prior to the tofu incident, I was just picking up stuff at WF that I know I can really only easily get there.  One thing was my FAVORITE chocolate bar from Chocolove!

Seriously, it is so good.  I mean, you usually can’t go wrong with chocolate, but this is the smoothest and most flavorful dark chocolate I’ve had in a long time.  Plus, it’s locally made, which is so cool!  I also picked up some oats because I’m almost out:

And some meatballs for dinner tonight:

Some Amazing Grass packets for breakfast cookies…I figure if I’m going to be eating these face-rocking cookies, I need to get some grass in them (not the illegal kind).

I also picked up a bunch of asparagus to go with some broccoli florets for dinner:

And some quinoa.  Now, I’ve “tried” quinoa before, but I didn’t really love it.  I am hoping it’s because I prepared it poorly and the second time around will be much better.  We’ll all have to keep our fingers crossed on this one!

And finally, some sweet potatoes!  I was inspired by Anna at Newly Wed, Newly Veg to make sweet potato oats sometime soon!

So, here we are at dinner.  What did I make?  Basically, spaghetti and meatballs with asparagus and broccoli sauteed in a teaspoon of olive oil (obvi), but I did make my own sauce:

  • 1 28-oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 28-oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1-2 Tbsp each red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1-2 tsp each garlic powder, dried onion flakes, oregano, and basil
  • salt + pepper to taste

I also added about 3 Tbsp of this toasted garlic we got in Lubbock…it’s soooooooo good!  And, the only ingredients are garlic and soybean oil.  Mix everything together and let it simmer until it’s reduced to the consistency you’re looking for – I like mine fairly thick.  Not too shabby :)

I decided that with my afternoon munchies attack, I should probably lay low on the pasta tonight.  I had a bowl with ~1/4 cup of pasta and about 1 cup of the veggies and 2 meatballs.  Pre-saucing:

And post-saucing:

This was pretty darn good!  I would rather have had spaghetti squash, but alas, I forgot to get some at WF this afternoon.  So it goes I suppose!  Dessert (because I always want to end on a sweet note) was a spoonful of this incredible ice cream:

So, I know you guys might be wondering what the big deal was with me eating vegan pizza this afternoon.  The thing is, I took all the toppings off and ate the crust, and then I stopped at Wendy’s and got a Jr. cheeseburger.  Why?  I have no idea…and this is what I’m talking about when I say there’s no stopping this kind of stuff.  That’s what I had been craving all afternoon, and I just let it get the best of me.  I really really wish I hadn’t eaten it, but I did.  Then I took that frustration in myself out on Nate, and I got even more annoyed with my actions.  Does anyone else ever have this experience?

Regardless, I’m in a better place now:  I apologized to Nate, I forgave myself, I had a healthful and veggie-filled dinner, and I will be doing a cardio workout later this evening when my dinner settles.  I’m ready to look to the food future with positivity (again) and continue to lose that weight :)

Tomorrow I’ll be working at the SIA Trade Show in Denver, and am super excited to see all the newest things coming out for the 2010 winter season!  Should be fun and interesting to say the least, and it’ll be oh-so-nice to be out of the office for a day :)

When you get in a stressed out/bored/worried situation and all you want to do is eat horrible-for-you food, do you have any tricks to instantly keep yourself from indulging?  I’d love all the help and encouragement I can get with this!

Hope you all have a wonderful evening, and I’ll be reading through all the awesome blog posts tomorrow evening!

Grilled Cheese Overload

by Heather on January 27, 2010

Oh man, I really did it this time!

I totally overdid it on the dinner thing last night.  Not necessarily but eating TOO MUCH food, but too much of one particular kind of food.  What’s that, you ask?  Grilled cheese:

On the side we had tomato soup in a plastic party cup :)   It’s so funny, too, because I was reading someone’s comment on The Weekly Bite yesterday about how grilled cheese and tomato soup is such a stellar combination.  She was right!

I loved this magnet on Rebecca’s fridge:

And, to be honest, I’m not sure why this was a huge deal.  BUT, I was told I needed to capture Robbie (of Robbie and Stefanie the amazing friends) taking a chunk out of a stack of mechanically separated meat parts salami:

Neither he nor I could figure out why it was such a big deal, but Nate told me to take the pictures, so I did!

Last night was a great night in our community group.  There were some really cool stories that were shared about marriage and its ups and downs.  I’m constantly amazed by listening to the people in our group, and I always look forward to our times together!

This morning I did a breakfast cookie without cocoa powder!  Crazy, I know…I did flour instead and added half the chocolate chips and some dried cranberries.  It was really good!  I’m thinking I’ll need to take a break from the cookies soon, though.  I’m starting to not be as amazed anymore, and I want to keep liking eating them!

And I got to work and had a cup of Blueberry SlimLife tea with a great reminder on the tag, “True understanding is found through compassion.”  So true!

So, as I said a little earlier, I’m slightly disappointed in myself and my lack of self control with the grilled cheese last night.  I had my whole sandwich, about 1/2 cup of tomato soup, and then another 1/2 of a grilled cheese.  NO VEGGIES.  This is not a good thing.  My goal of losing weight healthfully was slightly compromised with my inability to control my portions last night, and I’m not too proud this morning.  My hope is that today I can pick myself up off the ground and get it together again!

I did a 25-minute yoga flow workout this morning, and am planning on doing the walking thing again today.  As usual, when I walk, I’m doing 4.5 mph on the Boulder Creek Path, which is fairly hilly.  I am still trying to figure out how to get some time to do weight training consistently too though.  As I lose weight (which is actually happening…clothes are starting to not fit anymore!), I want to be building muscle to increase tone.  I just need to get myself out of bed earlier to start doing that!

How do you build strength training into your workouts? I don’t have access to a gym, and so all of my workouts are based around time availability at this point!

It's All About Owl City Radio

by Heather on January 26, 2010

I mean, it is – Owl City Radio on Pandora could be in the top 10 best things that have ever happened to me.  There, I said it!  I know Rebecca’s husband, Rhett, will 100% agree…I just know it!

Lunch was a chicken sammie on whole wheat bread with habanero pepperjack, and a large fistful of carrots.  You know what I discovered today?  CARROTS + ALMOND BUTTER, that’s what!  How did I not know this was perfection?  I must’ve blacked out while reading about it on Kath’s blog!  Anyway, it’s amazing.  If you haven’t tried it, do it.  Now.  :)

Also, I hate to admit it, but the snack attack happened again.  Darnit!  Only this time I went for the super-fake cheese option with Cheetos, Doritos, SunChips, and pretzels.  All 250 calories of that junk was just what I needed though!  Plus, I walked a lot faster and harder today, I figure it evens out.  The rest of the eats have been good for me!

My workout so far today has been 30 minutes of core work this morning, and hour-long fast walk this afternoon, and I’m planning on some yoga later tonight!

After the walk, I had this Apple Pie Larabar:

And when I got home I had 3 tortilla chips (literally, 3) and this amazing salsa!

We’re about to head out for community group, but I did also want to point out that I’m now one of Foodbuzz’s Featured Publishers!  I know this might not be a huge deal to really high-caliber bloggers, but I’m so excited!

Hope y’all have a fantastic evening, and I look forward to posting about our dinner tomorrow morning!

What’s been your biggest/best/favorite blogging accomplishment so far?  How did you get there?

That's What Friends Are For

by Heather on January 26, 2010

Hey y’all!  How is your Tuesday treatin’ you?  Mine’s par for the course so far!

Thanks so much for your sweet comments last night!  We are going through the Song of Solomon in church right now, and were challenged to write a love note to our spouse.  The things I wrote were all things I don’t say enough to Nate, and I wanted him to be able to see any time how much I love him :)   We also experienced the death of a very dear friend yesterday, and it really made me think:  our time here isn’t guaranteed, so I want to make the most of it and tell the people I love how much I truly love and appreciate them.  Have you told your family and friends how much they mean to you lately?

Last night we had an amazing display of friendship and community at our house!  Our good friends Robbie + Stefanie came over to help Nate and I clean our disgusting house!  It’s been a very stressful thing for me to not have a nice clean house for a while (I like to say we’re too busy, but the reality is that we don’t want to give up our free time to clean), and knowing that they came an helped!  I don’t have a picture yet, but the house looks great (with the exception of our room + bathroom – blech!).  We fed them in return, although that certainly wasn’t enough payment for how awesome they are :)

We had taco/burrito bowls!  It was brown rice (just regular cooked in water), fat free refried beans, taco chicken (ground chicken + low sodium taco seasoning = taco chicken), cheddar cheese, guacamole, fresh salsa, sour cream, lettuce, and chips.  I tried to fix mine up nice and pretty for the picture, but as soon as the camera was off I mixed it all together!  So good!

Dessert was about 1/4 cup of Haagen Dazs Five Vanilla Bean ice cream with sliced strawberries on top :

They ended up cleaning the entire kitchen and vacuuming the entire house (TOLD you they were good friends!!!) while Nate and I sorted through laundry and started to tackle the office.  We’ve got a long way to go, but I’m hoping in the coming weeks I can show you all some before and after house photos :)

We talked for a while after the cleaning spree, and just enjoyed spending time together!  I love these guys, they’re such great friends :)   Wish I had a picture I could post, but I can’t find one!

This morning I had the same Breakfast Cookie as yesterday, but with a spoonful of ice cream on top!  I let it melt into the cookie while it was still warm – HOLY YUM!!! I won’t be doing this every day, but it was heavenly!

And, even though it’s not Friday, I had time today and stopped by Starbucks for a small coffee.  Sometimes me getting Starbucks isn’t about craving coffee or thinking they’re the be-all-end-all of beverages, but it’s convenient and I just want something in my hands :)   ‘Twas yummy, and I sipped on it while answering emails.

The rest of the day should be fairly slow:  there’s a massive trade show in downtown Denver, and my company always has a rockin’ booth!  Most of the guys in the department are off setting things up (let them get gross and sweaty!!!), and Nate took the puppers home so I could work out on my lunch break and not have to leave them in the car.  Then it’s a quick trip home and then off to Rebecca’s for community group!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done to help a friend or that they’ve done to help you?  Or, for an easier question, what’s your favorite Pandora station?  I need some new suggestions!
